Hi,

Problem solved!!

It was an issue about the format to save the file (the commas and the utf8 protocol). Because i´m working in Spanish language it was mandatory to switch between english format to latin format when saving the files (changing parameters into control pannel in windows 8).

Now all are working OK.

Thanks.

Hi,

I think it will be more clear if i send you the excel file that i´m using for the upload. You have attached the file. You can check that i put parent id as "3157" because this is the parent id in which i want that the new categories will be uploaded.

The excel sheet that i´m using is one downloaded directly from mysql categories table (exported as excel csv) and then used to upload the new data, it´s thta correct?, if not, from where i must to create the excel sheet (as a template) for upload the new data?

Thanks.

Joomla does have a core category with id 1, all the main categories you create in back end are the children of this category. It doesn't show up in back end. I just meant put 1 in parent id wherever you are putting 0. If all of the categories you are importing doesn't have any category with parent 0 then you don't need to replace anything. But as you said categories aren't showing up, so it seems you are importing few categories with 0 parent id. You just need to replace this 0 parent id with 1.

Thanks

In the parent id colum i´m uploading the id number of the categorie in which i want to place the new categories. This is a parent id of third level, i have a root categorie another one under this one and the new ones must to be created bellow this one (the one of second level), so i put into parent id colum the number id that the categorie have in joomla.

I don´t understand your indication of to put "1" into parent id categorie, because this is not the id into joomla backend...

I can´t send you my login details because i´m work in localhost (not remote) with this project.

Thanks.

What are you importing in parent id column, If the categories are parent then there should be 1 in parent id column as It's the root category in joomla's categories table. Hope it would work now. Or If you still find some issues send us your back end login details via Contact Us form, We'll look into it...

Thanks

Hi,

I uploaded the data again from excel (as i do previously saved in csv format) with columns separeted by comma and it seems to work, the fields appears now correctly into the drop down menu (one to one). The problem now is that after uploading the sheet and selecting the colums that i want to match and upload to the system the new data imported don´t appears into the backend categories, althougt the program shows the message of "data successfully imported".

Any idea of what could be happen?

It´s possible only to upload the fields you want, or there are a mandatory group of fields that must be uploaded mandatory? (id´s for instance)...

Thanks.

Hi,

Apologies for the inconvenience. Please use comma ',' to seprate the columns or use Microsoft Excel to save the file as .csv.

Thanks
Danish

Hi,

I just installed the extension and try to import some categories into joomla (creating a new profile called "categories") but when i proceed to import the file from excel (csv) the option into details drop downn menu (after click on the continue button)show all the colum names that i have into the csv excel file separated by ";", rather than show only the colum name to choose from. Can you give any advice to solve this problem?

Yo have and atachment with a screenshot of the problem.

Thanks.
