    The first thing you need to do is to create a Profile before performing Data Import Process. (For example we are describing steps to Import Joomla Articles).
  • To create an Import type Profiles, go to vData > Profiles (or go to Dashboard and click on Profiles link in sub-menu).
  • Click on “New” Button on the Toolbar.
  • Set the Title of the Profile.
  • Select “Import” option from the Type Dropdown.
  • NOTE Based on this option, some fields for additional settings will be displayed.
  • Uncheck the “Quick Import/Export” checkbox as we are going to create a profile with custom settings.
  • NOTE Check the “Quick Import/Export” checkbox if you want to make a profile of Quick Mode with default settings. Some additional fields based on this option will be displayed further.
  • Choose “Custom” Plugin from this AJAX based plugin list of vData.
  • NOTE Some additional fields based on this option will be displayed further.
  • Choose a “Content Table i.e. #__content” from the table list into which you want to Import the Data.
  • Set “ID” column of selected table as Primary Unique Column.
  • Choose the “Update” option from Type of Operation.
      NOTE You can also choose “Insert” or "Synchronize" option.
    • INSERT: Insert only new records
    • UPDATE: Update existing rows and Insert new rows
    • SYNCHRONIZE: Update existing rows, Insert new rows and Delete those records from the "Target Table" which are not present in "Source Table or File"
  • Set the onContentBeforeSave to trigger BEFORE and onContentAfterSave to trigger AFTER a record entry in the database.
  • 2. Set your desired option with each column of selected table. You can include or exclude the particular column of the selected table. You can define a custom value for a particular column value. You can also assign the value through a reference of another table.
  • ID: Include ID column as Number (integer) which is a primary key of a specific record.
  • Asset ID: Include Asset ID as Asset Reference and select the “com_content” as Component and “content” table as Table File. This option will automatically handled the asset_id as Reference to asset table.
  • Title: Include Title as it is as a String.
  • Alias: Include Alias as URL Safe. URL Safe option will remove all white spaces and other characters and make the value URL Safe.
  • Introtext: Include Introtext as it is as a String.
  • Fulltext: Include Fulltext as it is as a String.
  • State: Include State as Number.
  • Cat ID: Set Cat ID as Reference to "Categories" table and fetch the extension and alias of the category. NOTE we assumed that you have already imported the categories.
  • Created: Include Created as it is as a String.
  • Created By: Set Created By as Reference to "Users" table and fetch the email (which is unique) of the Users. It is the userID who created this article. NOTE we assumed that you have already imported the Users.
  • Created By Alias: Include Created By Alias as it is as a String. It is alias to be displayed instead of the name of the user who created the article.
  • Modified: Include Modified as it is as a String or you can skip this column.
  • Modified By: Set Modified By as Reference to "Users" table and fetch the email (which is unique) of the Users. It is the userID who modified this article. You can also skip this column. NOTE we assumed that you have already imported the Users.
  • Checked Out: You can skip this column.
  • Checked Out Time: You can skip this column.
  • Publish Up: Include Publish Up as it is as a String.
  • Publish Down: Include Publish Down as as it is as a String.
  • Images: Include Images as it is as a String.
  • Urls: Include Urls as it is as a String.
  • Attribs: Include Attribs as it is as a String.
  • Version: Include Version as Number.
  • Ordering: Include Ordering as Number.
  • Metakey: Include Metakey as it is as a String.
  • Metadesc: Include Metadesc as it is as a String.
  • Access: Include Access as Number.
  • Hits: Include Hits as Number.
  • Metadata: Include Metadata as it is as a String.
  • Featured: Include Featured as Number.
  • Language: Include Language as it is as a Strip tag.
  • Xreference: Include Xreference as it is as a String.

Click on Save or Save & Close button to save the Profile.

After creating Import Profile, go to to vData => Import (or go to Dashboard and click on Import link in sub-menu).

  • Choose “Article Import from other Joomla” profile from the list which we created recently.
  • Set “Database” option as Data Source. In this case we are importing data from Remote Database.
  • Keep the Local Database Checkbox “Unchecked” to connect Remote Database.
  • Enter the Server Database Driver e.g. mysql or mysqli etc.
  • Enter the Host name running Database Server or use the Server IP address.
  • Enter the Username accessing the Database on Remote Server.
  • Enter the Password you entered for that Database user on Remote Server.
  • Enter the Database Name on Remote Server.
  • Enter the Prefix of Database Tables e.g. jos_ etc.

Click on Continue button for further setting to import Articles Data.

  • Click on “Import Now” button to start Import Process.
